About AYC

What is or what AYC wants to be?

AYC is a Country Music, Singers and Bands Blog. Everything obvious. I would like to clarify at this point that this is my first time doing a blog, so I hope to improve as I am getting more experienced with it.

AYC does not pretend to be a Country music encyclopaedia, although what AYC pretends is to give the opportunity, to everybody who is not familiarised with this genre, of knowing and enjoying it little by little; and if you already like Country, it might help you discover old and new artists, or maybe It could entertain you just for a couple of minutes. I would like to do my bit to help in the promotion of this music, music that got me trapped and makes me enjoy a lot; every voice, every sound of guitar, banjo or violin…in a word, every song I heard makes me live the stories and takes me to Texas, Tennessee, Georgia or any other place of the United States where that story could happen.

Country is huge in the United States, and very popular in Canada and Australia, but for the rest of the world, it is almost a complete unknown. Of course we find some exceptions; those 90’s country stars like Billy Ray Cyrus (Achy Breaky Heart everywhere) and Garth Brooks (toured around the world), some current bands like Lady Antebellum and its massive hit Need you now, and the Princess of Country Taylor Swift who has turned a little bit into pop music to reach international markets. Apart from that, very few things; In Spain, nothing found, and in Europe almost nothing found. This blog is originally in Spanish, but if having enough time, I would like to make it in English too so maybe people from across the borders would be able to spend a few minutes reading it. And this is the moment that I apology in advance for any possible grammar mistake in English, as my mother tongue is Spanish.

That is my “Statement of Intent” nowadays, in the future we will see. The sky is the limit.

Why “All Y’all Country”?

Music is one of the main passions of mine, within very different genres ans styles that could be sometimes almost impossible to find a connection between them. All of them have come sometime to my life; some stayed, some gone and some others evolved. Naming some of these artists; Guns n’ Roses and Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana and Pearl Jam, NOFX and Green Day, Ocean Colour Scene, Placebo and Muse, Robbie Williams and Paolo Nutini, POD and Linkin Park, Kanye West and Jay-Z, Eminem y Nelly, Justin Timberlake and Train, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Ramones, Kings of Leon and The Killers…and Spaniards as Héroes del Silencio and Extremoduro, Pereza and Marea, El Canto del Loco and Joaquin Sabina…etcetera. These are just a few, as it is not possible to list them all. This passion of mine comes from my father side. A melomaniac with an outstanding music collection of 4.000 units summarising Vinyls, Cassettes and Cds. Thanks to him I have been listening music from the day I was born, giving me the opportunity of knowing a lot of different artists along the music spectrum. Some of them got to seduce me, some others did not.

My Country history is a Flashback one. While listening music with my father, I discovered Country/Folk/American Popular Music artists as Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, John Denver, Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez, Linda Rondstadt…etcetera, a really long list that I can not remember all. Although I liked and enjoyed that music, I was going in a different way. In 2007 I started regularly to follow the Billboard list to know what was rocking in the USA, and one year later I heard on that list a song, the “special one”. This song brought back to me the Country passion that was undercover for a lot of years inside me. “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band is that song, and I got back into it. I am not saying that it is the best country song ever, but It has something that makes me really enjoy and gives positivism; the secret of real happiness is enjoying the small pleasures of life, like the Chicken Fried.

Since them till today, I have been listening a lot music, and really a lot Country in it.

What is the meaning of All Y’all Country?

All Y’all Country is a word game including the contraction of the words you and all. It is commonly believed to have originated in the Southern United States. All Y’all It is most used as a plural form of you, and it is to meant the entire group. Therefore All Y’all Country.

What is Country?

Country is a genre of American Popular Music that originated in the 20’s in Southern United States. The emigrants from the Old Europe did not only bring with them hopes and dreams, they carried musical instruments too like the Irish violin, the Italian mandolin, the Western Africa banjo and the Spanish guitar, among others. The mixture of all of then originated Country music.

Country speaks about hate and love, quotidian stories, American costumes, Pick-up trucks and Rodeo, long beer and tequila nights, American football, Chicken Fried, the pride of being Americans and the respect and grateful to their army…and a huge amount of things that make of United States a great country.

Therefore I would like you enjoyed the Country music and someday included it in that list of Small Things that make life better.
